Sinds 1994 kent Het Netwerk Land en Water jaarlijks een prijs toe aan de meest toonaangevende afstudeerscriptie in de (toegepaste) omgevingswetenschappen, waarvoor het onderzoek is verricht aan de WUR. Studierichtingen die vallen in de categorie (toegepaste) omgevingswetenschappen zijn bijvoorbeeld:

Het bestuur wil met de MSc Award de bekendheid met onderwijs en onderzoek vergroten en de uitwisseling met de beroepspraktijk bevorderen. De prijs bestaat uit een bedrag van 1000,– euro, een oorkonde, een jaarabonnement op een vaktijdschrift naar keuze (tot een bedrag van maximaal 100,– euro) en een lidmaatschap bij het Netwerk Land en Water voor één jaar. Een eventuele eervolle vermelding wordt beloond met een bedrag van 125,– euro.
De prijs is vernoemd naar de eerste hoogleraar cultuurtechniek aan de (toen nog) Landbouw Hogeschool Wageningen: Prof. Folkert Hellinga.
Iedereen kan een scriptie (thesis) voordragen. Afstudeerscripties afgerond in het kalenderjaar 2022 kunnen doorlopend worden ingediend tot juni 2023. De inzendingstermijn sluit op 31 mei 2023. Een ieder die een scriptie (thesis) wil voordragen kan hier het aanmeldingsformulier (en reglement). downloaden. We bieden ook een Engelse versie van dit formulier aan. De uitreiking van de Folkert Hellinga MSc-Award 2023 zal plaatsvinden op 14 september 2023. Locatie en tijdstip worden later bekend gemaakt.
